Mauisnake: Astralis should have chosen HooXi over cadiaN
Does Mauisnake have a point?
This week, Astralis shocked the Counter-Strike scene with the blockbuster signing of Casper “cadiaN” Møller from Liquid. The Danish veteran is set to transition to the rifle and take on the in-game leader duties on the Danish juggernaut.
However, renowned Counter-Strike expert and analyst Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg believes Astralis made the wrong call. According to him, Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen would have been a better choice for Astralis than the former Heroic captain.
In the latest episode of Snake and Banter with Thorin, Mauisnake shared his thoughts:
- I’m a fan of cadiaN now being on Astralis, because I think that their calling is going to get better. But it could have been HooXi and I think in a lot ways, it should have been HooXi. I was rooting for the HooXi move to Astralis as well, Mauisnaked explained.
He continued:
- I feel like HooXi would have been the better option instead of cadiaN – and for Astralis to miss that opportunity again is ridiculous. Because I think HooXi is actually a really solid caller. I’m not going to say that he’s fantastic but he was definitely above average for tier-1 callers in general. He knew how he wanted to use his pieces and he knew the style he wanted.
This statement is part of a broader conversation. You can watch the full discussion about HooXi and cadiaN below, starting at 1:22:00.
