Astralis stuns the CS world with blockbuster signing of cadiaN
The former Heroic captain joins former teammates and rivals as he takes over the IGL role on the Danish juggernaut.
Astralis has made a shocking move in the CS scene by announcing the acquisition of Casper “cadiaN” Møller from Team Liquid.
The unexpected transfer will see cadiaN assume the role of in-game leader, with Alexander “br0” Bro being moved to the bench. Perhaps most notably, this shift allows Nicolai “device” Reedtz to step back from IGL duties, returning to his preferred role as the team’s dedicated AWP player.
Aside from taking on the leadership role, cadiaN will also switch to playing with a rifle, moving away from his iconic position as an AWP player.
- I'm thrilled to have signed with Astralis. I understand some might see this as a controversial move, given my history with the team and past rivalries. Some may even question whether stepping away from the AWP is the right decision. But the truth is, I share the same vision as Astralis: always striving to be the best, building a top Danish CS roster, and competing for the biggest titles, cadiaN said in a statement released by Astralis.
"Fully aligned" with jabbi and stavn
The signing has sent shockwaves through the CS community, not just because of the star power cadiaN brings, but also due to the complex history between the two parties. Astralis and cadiaN have been fierce rivals for years, and it’s no secret that tensions existed between cadiaN and his former Heroic teammates, jabbi and stavn—both of whom are now his teammates again.
However, cadiaN is confident that past conflicts have been resolved and that the team is united in its quest for success.
-This reunion with jabbi and stavn is, of course, exciting for all of us. We've addressed the challenges we faced in the past, and today we're fully aligned. After a year of reflection, we’re still hungry for trophies and continue to share the same tactical vision that drove our success before, cadiaN concluded.
