Two days after PGL Masters Bucharest ended, the first day in Beijing settled old scores. Liquid turned a painful Bucharest defeat into a 13-3, 13-4 win over Aurora, while 9z, G2 and Aurora brought their Romanian problems with them.
IEM Beijing 2026 started with eight best-of-three matches in the opening round of both groups. Five of them were rematches from the last four weeks, and the champions from Bucharest arrived on four hours of sleep. These are all of Monday’s results.

Liquid flip the Bucharest result
Last Tuesday in Bucharest, Team Liquid led Aurora 10-8 on Cache with a playoff place in sight and lost the last five rounds. The veto in Beijing was the same, but there was no need for a third map. Liquid went into the break 9-3 up on the T side on both maps, EliGE finished 36-15 with 104.9 ADR, and all five Liquid players ended with a positive K-D against a team in the top five of the VRS.
Coach flashie told ESL’s broadcast before the series that nerves had got to Liquid in Bucharest.
I think in Cologne we were five individuals on the server and now we are a real team
Aurora Gaming have now lost four maps in a row since MOUZ knocked them out of the Bucharest quarter-finals. AWPer woxic went 11-26 with 38.2 ADR.
The same old problems for 9z and G2
9z left Bucharest without a series win after letting 6-2 slip on Cache against Vitality and 6-1 on Mirage against TYLOO. Against BetBoom they won Dust2 and led Ancient 7-5 at the half. At 7-7 they had the bomb down in a 3v2, Magnojez won the round with four kills, and 9z did not win another round on the map. From that 7-5 lead they won four of the next 24 rounds, and BetBoom took the series 2-1.
G2 won one map from seven in Bucharest, where coach sAw said the team were “stagnating“. They took PARIVISION‘s Dust2 pick 13-9, then lost on their own Anubis, a map they had won four times in five over the last three months. Jame went 24-8 on it with the AWP and finished the series 63-33. It is PARIVISION’s third win in four series against G2 this year.
FURIA survive on four hours of sleep
FURIA won the Bucharest title on Saturday and reached their hotel in Beijing at 2 a.m. They led FaZe Clan 10-2 on Ancient and lost the map 13-11 as FaZe won 11 rounds in a row. FURIA then slowed down, won Dust2 13-5 and Cache 13-4, and took five of the six pistol rounds in the series.
Elsewhere on day one
The MongolZ beat Legacy for the second time in a week, this time 2-1 from a map down, in ksloks’ first official match for the Brazilians. HEROIC repaid a February defeat to B8 with a 13-4 win on Nuke, the map B8 took from them last time, and a 2-0 series.
NAVI beat Team Falcons 13-5, 13-11 and ended a run of six straight Mirage defeats. Falcons came to Beijing five events without a final since winning the Cologne Major. MOUZ swept home side TYLOO 2-0, with Spinx on 43-21 and 11 kills more than anyone else on the server.
