G2 upset Vitality at BLAST London 2025

The BLAST Open London 2025 looked like Vitality’s best chance to lift a first trophy of the year.

The BLAST Open London 2025 looked like Vitality’s best chance to lift a first trophy of the year. They stacked wins last split, yet the 2025 cabinet is still empty, and with MOUZ and Spirit missing from the final the stage seemed set for a coronation.

G2, rebuilding with SunPayus and MATYS, had other ideas.

Dust 2

Coming in to Vitality’s pick of Dust 2, they had 100% winrate in the 8 times they’ve played it. G2 however did not care and blasted out of the gates on the CT side, winning pistol and the conversion, then storming to a 9–1 lead. A ZywOo 1v3 clutch capped by an ace finally put a second on the board for Vitality, but that was it for the half. G2 switched to the T side up 10–2.

The second pistol went G2’s way as well. Vitality found one more round, nothing more, and G2 closed Dust 2 comfortably 13–3. MATYS headlined the server with a 16–8 line and 100 ADR.

Mirage

Vitality finally picked up a pistol on Mirage and settled quickly on the CT side. They converted the second round and raced to a 4–0 start before G2 found their footing. With huNter- getting his first kill in round eight, the half still swung back to level as G2 clawed from 1–5 to 6–6 at the break.

After halftime, ZywOo tore the game open with a Glock ace to take the T-side pistol. Vitality never looked back, stringing seven straight behind ZywOo’s flawless 16–0KD and 175 ADR T-side to close 13–6. He finished the map 30–6 with 125 ADR and an 18% round swing.

Overpass

ZywOo set the tone again, grabbing three in the pistol and two more versus the force buy for five kills in the first two rounds. Vitality sprinted to 4–0, G2 answered with six in a row, and Vitality closed the half with the last two for another 6–6 scoreline.

The second pistol went Vitality’s way after a flameZ 1v2 clutch, and the CT side locked in from there. Just like Mirage, Vitality stacked six more rounds and wrapped Overpass 13–6 to move ahead 2–1 in the series.

Inferno

Vitality made it three pistols in a row and sprinted to a 5–0 CT lead. G2 finally got on the board, then rattled off five straight from 1–6 to tie the half 6–6.

Vitality claimed the second pistol as well to edge ahead 9–6, but once G2’s CT side stabilized they took three of the next four to level it 10–10. An apEX 1v2 on A flipped momentum back, and Vitality stacked two more to reach 12–11 and map, series point. In the final round of regulation Vitality hit B and held a 3-on-2, only for a fast G2 flank to turn it and force overtime.

Overtime belonged to G2. huNter-, malbsMd, and MATYS combined for 18 of 20 possible kills as G2 swept four clean rounds to close Inferno and push the final to a fifth map.

Train

G2 started on the CT side and, for the first time since Dust 2, won a pistol behind a HeavyGod Dual Berettas ace. They rattled off five more in a row, the fourth sealed by a HeavyGod 1v2 clutch, and led 6–0 with HeavyGod at 10–1. Vitality finally broke through with a half-buy, and the rest of the half traded out to 8–4 for G2.

The second pistol followed the same script. G2 took it on the T side for 9–4, then shrugged off a Vitality force-buy that reached a 5-on-3, converting the next two to 11–4. A clean B-site take made it 12–4 and put G2 on championship point. Vitality grabbed two rounds back, but G2 finished the job 13-6 with an insane last second A-site execute to lift their first trophy of 2025.
