The Vietnamese rifler whose passport was meant to take Sashi to Asia looks set to fill the gap cmtry leaves in Astralis’ Major lineup.
Astralis have registered Sashi’s Anton “Anlelele” Huynh as the substitute in their PGL Major Singapore lineup, multiple sources told HLTV. He is expected to play in place of cmtry, who cannot represent Astralis at the Major because he is still listed on FUT’s VRS roster.
Neither Astralis nor Anlelele has confirmed the move. Earlier on Friday, Vladislav Gromov reported that Astralis were already practising with the 25-year-old instead of cmtry.
Why cmtry is missing
cmtry joined Astralis in October, but he stayed on FUT’s VRS list after FUT went out of PGL Masters Bucharest. Under the rule Valve explained last month, SunPayus needed five matches for FUT to take cmtry’s place on that list. Nemiga’s quarter-final win over FUT left the Spaniard on four, and the Ukrainian is now barred from playing the Major for another team.
jabbi, who stepped in for cmtry in three Stake Ranked Episode 5 matches, remains on Astralis’ VRS roster. Sources told HLTV he is not expected to play in Singapore, which makes Anlelele the likely fifth player next to phzy, Staehr, ryu and siuhy.
The player behind Sashi’s Asia plan
Anlelele, who turns 26 on 10 November, holds Vietnamese citizenship and lives in Denmark. In October that passport was the base of Sashi’s attempt to move to the Asian VRS: the Danish organisation brought in the Australians TjP and Hatz to field three Asia-eligible players and chase a Major place away from the European rankings.
The move drew heavy criticism, with NiKo and other industry figures urging Valve to act. A day later, Valve blocked region swapping: a roster now has to wait three months after appearing on another region’s VRS list. BC.Game, who had switched to Asia with asap, were granted an exception, but Sashi were not, and they have since parted ways with TjP and Hatz.
Anlelele is a rifler who has been active since 2019. His path to Astralis:
- CS:GO: Aalborg Rebels, Ignite Esport, DREAM Gaming, Team Atlantic, MASONIC and Espionage
- Sprout, November 2023 to March 2024
- ECSTATIC, May 2024 to July 2026 (inactive from April)
- Sashi, since July 2026
Across 796 CS2 maps he averages 77.1 ADR with 73.2% KAST. Astralis also know him from the other side of the server: they beat Sashi 2-0 at Stake Pulse Beat III in Stockholm last month.
A Swiss start in Stage 2
As the 12th-ranked European team in Valve’s 2 November invite ranking, Astralis go straight to Stage 2 of the PGL Major Singapore, played from 28 November to 1 December. The eight invited teams are seeded first to eighth in a 16-team Swiss stage and meet teams coming through Stage 1. Matches are Bo1 apart from elimination and advancement matches, which are Bo3, and the top eight move on to Stage 3.
Astralis’ first opponent will only be known once Stage 1 is over. You can see the full field in our guide to every team at the PGL Major Singapore.
