FACEIT let players vote on scrapping the knife round

Keep the knife round or start on a random side: the winner of a community vote will be tested when FACEIT Season 10 begins on 9 December.

FACEIT have opened a vote on whether the knife round should stay in their CS2 matchmaking. The platform announced it on X at , and players have until 12 November to choose.

Today every FACEIT match opens with a knife round, and the winners pick whether to start on T or CT. If players vote to drop it, the starting sides will be drawn at random instead.

Tested from Season 10

Whichever option wins goes live as a test on 9 December, the day FACEIT Season 10 starts. That season will also bring automatic server matching, which FACEIT announced earlier this week.

The change only covers matchmaking. ESEA League matches keep the standard knife round whatever the result, Dust2.us reported.

Not the first vote

FACEIT have handed decisions like this to players before. According to Dust2.us, the community voted for an optional eighth map, first Cache and later Vertigo once Cache joined the official pool, and chose to switch on all chat at half-time from Season 9.

The announcement had passed 137,000 views on X by Saturday morning.
