The organization 100 Thieves was founded back in 2017 by the former OpTic Gaming Call of Duty captain Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag. Matthew is known for being the 2014 Esports Athlete of the year and winning the X Games gold medal. After he retired from competitive gaming, he wanted to make 100 Thieves become one of the most recognizable and biggest brands in the Esports industry. 100 Thieves has won multiple major championships in the first two years in LoL, Fortnite, and CoD. The company has raised over $60m from investors such as Dan Gilbert, Drake, NBA Cleveland Cavaliers owner, and also supported by major partner names as Cash App and Redbull.
It wasn’t a dream beginning for 100 Thieves when they first wanted a team in CS. In 2017 the organization signed 5 Brazilian players who played for Immortals, but the roster never got to play due to issues with visas. In 2019, 100 Thieves announced signings of the former Renegades roster and the team got to play at IEM Beijing 2019 where they got second place in the tournament after losing to Astralis. The organization lost 3-0 in maps in the 2020 ESL Pro League Season 12 North America grand finals against a strong FURIA team who was coming from the upper bracket with a 1-0 map advantage. 100 Thieves are now looking forward to a successful future and to compete with the best CS teams in the world.
