Shocking the CS community this Monday, FaZe has announced that they are bringing on Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev.
The Ukrainian legend will step in for Helvijs “broky” Saukants, who was officially benched earlier today after a stretch of poor form.
s1mple will link up with karrigan and the rest of FaZe’s lineup for the upcoming IEM Dallas, and more significantly, the BLAST.tv Major in Austin next month.
Coming in cold
Despite being considered by many as the GOAT of Counter-Strike, s1mple’s arrival can be seen as a slight risk for FaZe.
The Ukrainian AWPer only has 16 official maps in Counter-Strike 2, after having featured as a stand-in for Falcons. And it will be fair to say that these spells weren’t particularly impressive from s1mple.
FaZe captain Finn “karrigan” Andersen also admits that it’s an “all-in move.”
– Unique opportunity and I’m looking forward to play with this GOAT at the major. This is an all-in move, we are going for the trophy at the Major. Even if Sasha is only a stand-in, I know we can win, karrigan wrote on X.
