dev1ce opened up about the situation back in December last year giving some clarification on his break from CS:GO, due to heavy speculations of him leaving NIP for a potential return to Astralis.

(…) I have been taking active steps toward recovery and am looking forward to putting in the work that will enable me to get back to the top of my game and be the best version of myself.

The 22-year-old Swede is currently without a team, which probably will make it a bit easier to find a potential agreement.

NIP has not at the moment commented on the matter regarding the interest in acquiring Jackinho or confirmed that dev1ce has extended his leave, however, Jonas Gundersen, COO at NIP has posted this Tweet.

If you ask the Counter-Strike community which nation has been the most dominant and paramount in the history of the game, the majority will most likely point towards one certain European country.

The Swedish CS:GO scene has produced a myriad of legendary figures in Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, and many others. The big Scandinavian nation, embodied in Fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas, also dominated the very beginning of CS:GO, winning four out of the first six Major Championships.

However, every great dynasty has its end, and for the Swedish CS:GO scene, it was no different.

We have sat down with f0rest to hear what he believes caused the collapse of the great Swedish dynasty, and why the Swedish CS:GO scene isn’t as dominant anymore. When speaking with the former NIP superstar, one particular aspect seems to appear – The unwillingness to grind your way to the top.

- The Swedish players feel kind of entitled because Sweden always has been presented as one of the best nations in Counter-Strike. Because of that, some people expect to be a great star player right off the bat and to join an already tier-1 team. But people are not fighting together as a team to reach that goal collectively.

The quality and the grind that Danish players are doing, is what’s lacking in Sweden. The Swedish scene hasn’t really committed to the lower-tier teams in the way Denmark has, where teams have stuck together and made the grind to reach the top, f0rest explains and continues with his comparison between the two neighbouring countries:

- What Denmark does right, is that they nurture and have a lot of really strong teams in lower-tiers that grind their way up towards the higher ends. Heroic for instance, they came from battling in tier-2 to now being a stable Top 5 team in the world (…) At the end of the all, we just need to see more Swedish teams stick together longer and actually grind and try to make it work.

Long before becoming one of Counter-Strike’s most accoladed and greatest players in history, f0rest recalls a time and a period where he alongside some of his fellow friends were trying to break through to the professional scene.

- When I started playing Counter-Strike there was already a lot of Swedish pro teams, where I only played with four of my friends. We all had the same goal to reach LAN events or just do something. During that path, we all became really good, because we all wanted the same thing – to become great players and a great team.

We didn’t make it that far, however, we did a few upsets as a team, and that was enough to get recognized and picked up by a better team. You got to grind – I think that’s the way to do it because it’s not up to others to show you the way.

I don’t think it’s as hard to get recognized now, as it were be back in the day. There are a lot of tournaments you can play right now. So just get in there and make sure you have four teammates, who are playing for the same reason as you.

The upcoming PGL Major is set to be held in Sweden’s capital of Stockholm, with the $2 Million tournament being the first Major in over two years. Sweden’s best hope for an overall victor will undoubtedly be NIP, after their impressive win at IEM Fall.

Despite the iconic Ninjas’ great success lately, Sweden will only be going to be represented by a historically low of five players at the PGL Major – the lowest in Major history.

The two Swedish mastodonts in Ninjas in Pyjamas and Fnatic has in recent years tried to strengthen the Swedish talent pool with the creation of Young Ninjas and then also Fnatic Rising. The creation of these academy teams is something f0rest sees as a very positive direction.

- NIP is doing something right with giving LNZ a shot, being a young player from Young Ninjas and now has won IEM Fall. That will hopefully give some motivation for younger Swedish players to see that it’s possible.

That grind, where you develop at a certain pace and get a feel out for the game is a healthy way of doing it, in my opinion. Jackinho and the Young Ninjas players on NIP have been thrown into tier-1 competition and are expected to deliver results right off the bat.

I think the future of Swedish Counter-Strike looks brighter than it has in the last few years. There are a lot of upcoming talents who are beginning to pop up within the scene, and it feels like the Swedish CS:GO has got reignited and realized “Hey, we are not so bad after all”, f0rest concludes.

The Swedes from Fnatic are currently without a stable fifth in their roster, owing to the benching of Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson five days ago. The axing of the 22-year-old AWPer came after a period with lacklustre performances from both him and the team.

The young Romanian is set to play at the ongoing Elisa Invitational Fall alongside the main team, where they have been invited to join at the quarterfinal stage.

After failing to qualify for the PGL Major in Stockholm, fnatic have decided to make some changes to their active roster. The first official change that has just been announced is the decision to bench Jackinho. After a 10-month long stay within the Swedish roster, he will now have to seek elsewhere to further advance in his career as a professional CS:GO player. 

The 10-month long tenure for fnatic has been a difficult one for the young AWP'er who never really shined within the roster. With "JW" staying as the team's primary AWP'er at the start of his stay at fnatic, it proved difficult for the 22-year-old to prove his worth on the roster. Once finally given the responsibility of being the primary AWP'er, however, "Jackinho" fell short of the expectations and never really seemed to settle in at fnatic. 

fnatic are currently ranked as the 23rd. best team in the world according to HLTV's official rankings, a rank that doesn't fit the organization's expectations, and therefore a change was thought to be necessary. Until a replacement is found for the 22-year-old AWP'er, fnatic will be using "smooya" as a stand-in in the upcoming events. After the removal of "Jackinho" the fnatic roster looks as follows:

After having slumps in performance in recent times fnatic has chosen to implement a sixth player into their line-up. The relatively unknown rifler Peppe "Peppzor" Borak will act as the team's sixth player in the new six-man roster once integrated properly.

In their announcement fnatic addresses the complexity of a six-man roster and many different ways of executing such a roster change: 

"As other teams have experienced, a six-man roster is not yet a perfect system, but for now this experiment will give our roster a much-needed shakeup, while allowing Peppzor to develop his phenomenal talent away from the pressure of official matches." 

Additionally, the organization has stated that Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson will continue his role as the main AWP'er whereas the legendary Jesper "JW" Wecksell is set to be integrated into a rifling role, of course, alongside being the team's secondary AWP'er.

It's not an exaggeration to say that the Swedish scene has been a major part of the rise of Counter-Strike and that the Nordic country has paved the way for thousands of thousands CS:GO players in the past. A movement, the iconic organization of fnatic has been a cornerstone in, where they have produced countless promising CS:GO talents. 

And on fnatic's current roster it's no different. 

Because under the guidance of Maikil "Golden" Selim, two young and talented players in Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin and Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson are displaying some very impressive levels lately. The latter of them has just moved to the AWP role on the team, which seems to be a very good idea.

The first map on Train was close until the end, it was 11-11 until fnatic found another gear and won five of the six last rounds to secure the first map of the semi-final.

The second map was even more closely when mousesports secured the win in the last round of the map to make it to 16-14. There was a chance for fnatic to make it to overtime, but they didn’t take the chance, as mousesports secured Vertigo in the last round.

On the third map, there was never doubt of the outcome after a ridiculous start from mousesports where they were leading 9-2 after the first eleven round, clear domination from mousesports secured them a spot in the following grand finale.

After five straight defeats, two of them in the ESL Pro League, Fnatic is back to winning ways after a 2-1 victory against Evil Geniuses.

On Train the new addition to the Swedish roster, Jack 'Jackinho' Ström Mattsson played his best map for his new team to help the struggling Swedes to win the map comfortably 16-11.

The momentum did not carry over to Inferno, where 'oBo' continued his impressive start for EG. The young American has had a fine debut tournament for Evil Geniuses, and was together with Tarik 'tarik' Celik impossible to control for Fnatic, who lost their CT-side 12-3, before going 4-4 in the second half to lose the map.

Mirage was the setting for the decider. Unknown territory for EG, who had not played the map in a competitive match with their new roster yet. Again it was the newcomers on both teams 'Jackinho' and 'oBo' who were instrumental in the match. After some very tight rounds in the first half, 'Jackinho' and Fnatic slowly but surely began to break EG and went from 9-11 to a 16-11 win after some very fast-paced rounds.

The loss is a devastating blow for Evil Geniuses' hope of advancing in the tournament, while Fnatic keeps the dream alive, though the Swedes will need a small miracle to progress in the tournament with both Astralis and Virtus.pro waiting in their last two matches in Group D.

Under just a year ago fnatic were first on HLTV´s world ranking, but today they sit at number 17. This is how fast it goes in the CS: GO world.

Four of the players, Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, Jesper “JW” Wecksell, Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, Maikil “Golden” Selim, and the coach Andreas “Samuelsson” Samuelsson was all there when the team was first in the world ranking.

As a result of the bad performances, the Swedish organization chose to bench the rifler Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and replace him with the Swede Jack Ström “Jackinho” Mattsson.

With the top-level performances, we know that this roster can produce elite players like Brollan who signed a new contract. fnatic could be the underdog to keep an eye on in this Group D.

In the open qualifier for DreamHack Masters Spring Fnatic is ready for round 3 after a 16-12 win against POGbaPEEK.

The win was secured on Inferno after an even match. At 11-11 the new Fnatic player Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson made a perfect B-hold only armed with his Deagle.

Fnatic is among other well-known teams as Movistar Riders, Sprout, MIBR, and ENCE competing for four tickets for the weekends closed qualifiers for the main tournament. 

The Swedish trio of Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, Jesper "JW" Wecksell, and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist has been a cornerstone in the history of CS:GO, with the three legends having cemented their names in the game, owing to their 8 Major titles in total.

The legendary trio has led the fnatic banner for years through thick and thin, but everything that has a beginning also has an end. In the start 2021, the Swedish organization announced the departure of flusha, which meant the dissolution of the celebrated and majestic Swedish trio.

fnatic have booked a ticket to the grand final at the cs_summit 7 event after taking down the Danish-side from Heroic 2-0 in the semi-final. The Swedish-side will now face off Virtus.pro in the much-awaited grand final which is set to start at 21:00 (CET). Jackinho who has been one of the main driving forces behind fnatic in the series, has secured his first grand finals in his first tournament under the fnatic banner and dropped 188 frags so far.

It was JW who closed out the second map with a clutch in the final round of the match.

As we move closer and closer to finding out who is going to be the victor of the $200.000 cs_summit 7 event we are presented with entertainment of the highest caliber with fnatic taking on Cloud9 in a battle for a spot in the semi-finals. Both teams have made changes to their roster - will it be Cloud9 and their new signing "Xeppaa" or instead fnatic with their newest member "Jackinho" to best their opponent and advance in the tournament?

With the new signing of Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson, fnatic is ready to prove themselves in the new 2021 season. The 21-year-old AWP'er couldn't be any happier with his debut as fnatic manages a 2-0 victory against Complexity. Complexity is still relying on Jakob "JUGi" Hansen as a stand-in for Valentin "poizon" Vasilev during the cs_summit 7 event. 

The first map took place on the Swedes' map pick Train. Going into halftime as close as possible with a scoreline of 8-7 favoring Complexity, it seemed as if we were going to have a close series on our hands. This, however, wasn't the case as fnatic came flying out of the gate in the second half and managed to win 9 consecutive rounds to close out map one 16-8. 

The second map, being Complexity's map pick, was to no one's surprise to be played over on Mirage. The map has for quite some time been home ground for the Complexity side as it is their second most successful map, with a win-rate of 58.3% in the last 3 months against top 30 teams. Despite being more competitive and a lot closer than the first map, ultimately the Swedes managed to close out the series 2-0 with a scoreline of 16-12 on Mirage.

The young Swede has not had a lot of international experience but has proven his capabilities in the domestic scene by winning Svenska Elitserien Spring 2020, Doritos Open 2, and Yalla Cup Winter. He managed an individual rating of 1.29 over the 15 maps he has played this year, although none of the matches can be said to be against top-tier opponents. 

"Jackinho" seems to be the perfect fit for a fnatic roster looking for some new and youthful talent. The 21-year-old was expected to take on the role as the team's primary AWP'er, a job that currently lies in the hands of Jesper "JW" Wecksell. However, "Jackinho" has stated the following in regards to his role in the roster: 

"From the beginning, I will not play the AWP but JW will continue with it, and I will try some new roles. But it is a dialogue I had with the coach and our IGL and we have laid out a plan of what we think will work best"

Whether or not he is going to further strengthen the Swedish roster is yet to be known, but one thing is for sure - "Jackinho" is more than up for the task and ready to prove himself in the international scene. In a Twitlonger post, he expressed his eagerness to begin a new journey at fnatic: 

"There is one part of me that is still trying to realize that I have achieved one of my biggest dreams and then there is the other part that is hungry and eager to learn, improve and achieve great things with this team for this organization. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to tackle this challenge in 2021."

The Swedish Organization announced a change of roster today. The legendary player Robin "Flusha" Rönnquist has been benched from the iconic team, after a 7-year long service at the organization.

fnatic has stated that they haven't released the 27-year old Swede, as he gets the opportunity to pursue other possibilities and options in the future. 

It has been heavily rumoured that the Swedish youngster Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattson will replace the legendary flusha" at fnatic. "Jackinho" primarily plays as an AWPer and is 21 years old. He has played for minor Organizations as nerdRage, Visomvet, and Prima Esport.

flusha was a part of the iconic fnatic team, who ruled the CS:GO world for ages in the period from 2013-2016. Alongside, teammates Olof “olofmeister” Kajber, Jesper “JW” Wecksell and Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, flusha won three majors, cementing their legend status forever.
