Upcoming Chinese prodigy might retire due to China’s anti-addiction rule
China’s new anti-addiction rule limit gamers under the age of 18 to only spend three hours on their computer per week.
The 16-year-old Chinese talent, Lizhi “Starry” Ye who plays under the Lynn Vision Gaming banner, turned a lot of heads following his impressive performance against G2 at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2021. Starry managed to deliver 56 frags across three maps, finishing with a rating of 1.08 along with the stellar highlight of the 1v5 pistol ace on Vertigo.
Despite being an upcoming talent with the required skills to make a name for himself, the Chinese prodigy has come forward to say he is considering temporarily retiring from the professional scene due to China’s anti-addiction rules. The recently implemented anti-addiction rules prevent gamers below the age of 18 from playing more than three hours in a week, which means that 16-year-old Starry might be forced to retire for a couple of years.
After the match against G2, Lynn Vision’s Starry received lots of praises and went on to state the following:
Thank you so much for your support, everyone. I have never received so much acclaim in my life. I am really happy that we managed to beat G2 on one map (Vertigo), and that I was able to show what I can do. Due to some ‘speechless’ restrictions, the match against G2 should be my last one for the next two years. There’s nothing I can do about it. So, it’s kind of a perfect final bow for me. Anyways I am really happy. Really appreciate everyone’s support.
