sh1r0 explains why he left Cloud9 after months of silence
The new Spirit star opens up about his decision to leave the star-studded CIS roster, assuring that it didn't have anything to do with his teammates.
It was highly unexpected when the Russian star player Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov in late October announced that he was stepping down from Cloud9, despite having been a standout performer for the team throughout 2022-2023.
The 22-year-old AWPer left little to no reasoning for his decision to leave Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov and company, only stating the following.
- It was one of the most difficult decisions in my career, but right now, I don't want to go into details: what, how and why.
The above-mentioned statement and sh1ro’s unbroken silence meant that the outside never got an explanation or a chance to understand his doings.
However, in a recent interview with Spirit, his new team, sh1ro opens up about his decision.
- When I left the team, it was taken oddly. I have been reading the comments and what people are saying. People usually don’t know everything. They all assume different things, and clearly everyone has an opinion, but that’s just the way it is.
- I have always been asked to tell why I left Cloud9. It’s not because of the boys. I’m perfectly fine with them. I left because of a combination of factors. I wanted to move on. I felt a stagnation in Cloud9, and I wanted to develop and try new things. But I didn’t know where that path would take me, sh1ro said in the interview.

A couple of months after stepping down from Cloud9, sh1ro was announced as the new AWPer on Spirit.
On the Russian team, sh1ro now plays with the Counter-Strike prodigy Danil “donk” Kryshkovets under the leadership of IGL and captain Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov.
