Pro players offer their take on M4A1-S and AWP changes
M4A1-S and the AWP both got nerfed in Valves latest CSGO update.
Besides Anubis replacing Dust2 in the active map pool in 2023. We also saw some chances on M4A1-S which have been one of the big reasons behind the strong CT side. Many pro players have called out the weapon for being too strong. After the update, the CT rifle does less damage when standing from a long distance. This is not the first update to the weapon, back in June was the first time we saw a nerf to the M4A1-S as the magazine was reduced from 25 to 20. Another weapon that has been nerfed is the AWP where the sniper's magazine has been reduced from teen to five bullets.
HLTV caught up with several CS:GO community members (huNter-, nitr0, Maniac, Xizt, ropz, rain, and hampus) at BLAST Fall Final to ask them about their thoughts on the weapon update.
We played it in practice, but normaly we would play the M4A1-S here, and we will still play with the M4A1-S in practice aswell. I still think its pretty good, i didn't noticed that big of a chance when i was practicing with it. I saw karrigan playing with the M4A4 in practice, and it looked pretty fun to play with A4 again, after the tournament i will mate the switch. - Rain told HLTV

How many will make the change from M4A1-s to M4A4 is still to be seen, for now, players are only talking about making the switch. BLAST Worlds Finals will be the first big tournament where we get to see if the pro players have made the switch.
