launders: I don’t like this new reality in CS:GO where the lower-tier are closer to the elite
In a talk with us, the expert explains why he believes it's a good thing if CS:GO has a defined era and a dominant top.
At the newly concluded BLAST Premier Fall Final in Royal Arena, we got the opportunity to speak with one of Counter-Strike’s smartest minds in Mohan "launders" Govindasamy.
In the interview with the renowned caster and expert, we came around several aspects within CS:GO including the current state of the game and how the gap between the lower tier and the elite seems to have shrunken.
- … I do feel like the gap [between tier-1 and tier-2 players] has closed dramatically, launders said.
- I think if we look at someone like fame for example, who’s the number one player in Europe on FACEIT. He hasn’t been playing that long but has just now picked up a Major win, and he’s proof that people can get good very fast these days. You can do a lot of the individual work on your own for a couple of years and then get an IGL like Jame and then catch up to even tier-1 teams within a short period of time.
Question: Do you like this new reality where the lower-tier and upcoming players are closer to the elite?
- I personally don’t. I really do like dominance a lot and I think that during the Astralis era it was really cool to see teams scramble to become as good as Astralis, make roster moves and everything like that. Whereas right now I feel like it’s confusing for teams – they can lose to almost anybody, and whether or not teams need to make a roster move is up for debate. And I don’t know if you actually can make the right decision.
- It feels like we don’t know if there will be another era but I really do feel like in sports and especially Counter-Strike that era’s have defined the metas and how all teams look. Right now, I think the Top 20 is so close that it’s hard to say what the prevalent style is.
