G2 CEO opens up about future plans for m0NESY amid departure speculation
Nikola "NiKo" Kovas is set to leave the star-studded squad - But will m0NESY follow suit?
Approaching 2025, G2 faces pivotal choices around its roster.
Especially with superstar rifler Nikola “NiKo” Kovac reportedly set to depart the team after the Major — a move that G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte basically confirmed in a recent interview with MGG France.
But where does that leave Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov?
Known for his close connection with NiKo, the young prodigy AWPer’s future has been a subject of speculation.
Dechelotte, however, clarified G2’s vision for m0NESY, emphasizing that the Russian star is “the heart of their project.”
- In any case, he has a contract of more than a year. It's up to us. For him to leave, we'll have to accept that. I think he has a special relationship with NiKo, he's been his mentor, he admires him a lot, NiKo helped him a lot in his career, Dechelotte said to MGG France.
- But today, he's also the best player in the world, and he has an opportunity to become the leader of the roster in his own right. So, we're working on what the G2 CS roster will look like in the future. For us, Ilya is at the heart of the project, Dechelotte shared, as translated by French journalist neL.
