Falcons Director after RMR exit: Our goals for the Copenhagen Major were minimal
"Later in 2024 and next year". That's the target for Falcons' star-studded lineup, according to their Global Director of Esports, Grant Rousseau.
Earlier today, Falcons lost their chance to qualify for the upcoming PGL Major in Copenhagen, after a discouraging performance at the RMR tournament in Bucharest.
The team which handed Danny “zonic” Sørensen and his team their third consecutive loss – and therefore also Falcons’ fatal blow - was the world #32 AMKAL.
After the match, Falcons head coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen stated this to Dust2.dk:
-It’s just not good enough. If you want to qualify for the Major, then you need to beat a team like AMKAL (…).
Falcons rifler Emil “Magisk” Reif followed up by saying sorry to his fans and that "this was the most disappointing moment in his career.”

However, if you ask the Falcons management, the goals for the upcoming Major were “minimal”.
Pley.gg reached out to Grant Rousseau, Falcons’ Global Director of Esports, to get a comment on the failed Major qualification. According to Rousseau, the focus is on later this year and 2025.
- It's obviously disappointing given how Katowice went, but we knew the team didn't yet have consistency after such a short time of playing and practicing together and there was always a risk of this happening as a result. When we created this team the goals for the Copenhagen Major were minimal and our targets remain very much focused on what can come later this year and in 2025. No matter the standing of our staff and players we have, we know bringing together a top CS team takes time and we're committed to that fact, Rousseau stated and continued:
- I'm just personally saddened for Snappi, Magisk and Zonic specifically given it's a home event for them, but we also knew these first months as a team would be the hardest. We have no doubts that we'll only get stronger as a team as time goes on with the performance systems and staff we've put in place, and we look forward to the chance to show that.

Pley.gg asked Grant Rousseau whether or not the Falcons management could guarantee every player’s and coach’s position in the Falcons team, however, Rousseau did not answer that particular question.
