Expert on new update: This is the worst competitive map pool we've had in years, perhaps ever
Does Sudhen "Bleh" Wahengbam have a point here?
Valve stunned the Counter-Strike world this Friday with an update to CS2, presenting significant changes to the game.
The biggest news is undoubtedly the return of the iconic Dust2, which will replace Overpass in the competitive map pool.
In that regard, we spoke with Counter-Strike expert and analyst Sudhen "Bleh" Wahengbam to hear his thoughts and first reaction.
- My first reaction was waking up at 6 am and smiling looking at the changelog until I saw the Dust2 change and thought I was in a lucid nightmare, Bleh says to Pley.gg.
The reintroduction of Dust2 has sparked mixed opinions, with some praising the decision while others, like Bleh, are questioning Valve's choices.
- Dust 2 has been stale for years. And while I was wishing for Overpass to get a rehaul, I wanted a revamped Train or maybe a brand-new map to replace it. But Dust2 just ain’t it.
- Dust2 was already extremely limited in avenues you can take and the approaches you can have as a CT and T. It’s already been played out to death and apart from the new smoke dynamics we won't see anything new with Dust2 coming back. While it will 100% appeal to the casual user base, it is regressive from a competitive standpoint.
- This is the worst competitive map pool we've had in years, perhaps ever, Bleh concludes.
