Huge update: Overpass replaced by Dust2!
Valve just dropped a major update to CS2.
In today's Counter-Strike update, Valve has introduced a host of quality-of-life enhancements spanning every aspect of the game, from map adjustments to user interface tweaks and gameplay improvements. Here are some of the key highlights:
Overpass has been dropped from the competitive map pool and replaced by Dust2! The change comes as a big surprise, and will undoubtedly be a big discussion point going forward. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski was one of the first pro players to react to the news.
Left-handed players can now rejoice as they have the option to switch their weapon deployment between the left and right hand. This feature can be customized in the settings menu, allowing players to set their preferred handedness and switch hands temporarily during a match with a simple key press (default: H on US Keyboards).
The buy menu has received several upgrades aimed at enhancing decision-making during rounds. Now, players can easily determine whether to buy or save with the addition of the minimum amount of money guaranteed for the next round displayed in the top right corner. Additionally, a new 'Dropped Weapons' panel at the bottom of the buy menu enables players to quickly locate and pick up any weapons dropped by themselves or teammates within the buy zone.
Various HUD and UI changes have been implemented, including a line-up reticle that appears shortly after pulling the pin on a grenade, assisting players in executing precise grenade throws. Moreover, players struggling to navigate through smoke can now set an alternate radar zoom and bind a key for toggling between zoom levels during gameplay.
In terms of map adjustments, the Active Duty map pool has undergone a revision, with Overpass being replaced by the returning Dust II. Notably, Inferno has also received significant changes, addressing community feedback and enhancing gameplay experiences.
