CS expert kassad on new smoke feature in CS 2: I feel like it has to be fixed
The former Renegades and 100 Thieves coach offers his take on Counter-Strike 2.
Yesterday the much-awaited Counter-Strike 2 was revealed by Valve after an extensive period with countless rumours, leaks and reports about the new update.
We have spoken with the Counter-Strike expert and former coach Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović about the update to get his first reaction and opinion.
- I was positively surprised by what I saw. I can't really explain it, but it gave me some sort of 1.6 vibe. The game looks faster and cleaner. It’s absolutely a good change for our scene, we had CS:GO for 10 years and it was about the right time we get this “upgrade”, kassad says and continues:
- I think it will attract a whole new generation of players, and we always want that to happen. When it comes to higher-tier competition, it will be a small adjustment period and a bit of a resistance at the beginning, but it will be ok in the end.
kasad hasn't had the chance yet to test Counter-Strike 2 himself but he's overall excited about it
Arguably the most revolutionary and most discussed thing about Counter-Strike 2 is the smoke grenade update.
The smoke grenade
In the new update, smokes will interact more with objects and furthermore, you will be able to create gaps in the smoke if you shoot bullets or throws an HE in it, as shown right here.
A change that kassad believe need “some adjustments” before Counter-Strike 2 will set go live this summer.
- It’s still early to tell but I do think there will be some adjustments to the whole smoke thing. In this version, it’s very easy to abuse smokes, especially on the T side.
- You can use the example of Inferno late round T side goes B and they smoke CT spawn as they usually do. If CT has a nade to clear the smoke for a couple of seconds, it will be very difficult to cross. I feel like it has to be adjusted, kassad concludes.
