The MongolZ won the first five rounds of their own map pick and four of the 30 that followed. ZywOo went 35-16 over the series, flameZ added 22 kills on Cache, and Vitality are 2-0 in the Swiss stage in Bucharest.
For five rounds on Sunday, The MongolZ looked like the team that arrived at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 with a trophy from Belgrade and a win over the defending champions. They led 5-0 on Inferno, their own pick, and ZywOo had not registered a kill.
Then the series turned into something else. Team Vitality took 26 of the remaining 30 rounds, won Inferno 13-6 and Cache 13-3, and ZywOo finished with 35 kills and 16 deaths at 114.1 ADR. It was Vitality’s second straight 2-0 without apEX.

The plan that lasted five rounds
The MongolZ came in with an idea for their T side on Inferno, and it worked at first. They showed heavy pressure towards one site, held it, then pivoted late to the other, the same baiting style that had troubled Aurora on Saturday. Vitality’s defence kept turning the wrong way. The MongolZ won the pistol round and the follow-up buys, and in round five 910 won a one-against-two against jL and flameZ with two quick swings.
Vitality called a timeout at 0-5. What followed was ten rounds in a row, and most of them went through ZywOo. He took four kills on the A site in the first of them, four more with the AWP on B in the next, and then won a one-against-two that summed up the problem for The MongolZ. With the bomb dropped and time to plant, two MongolZ players hesitated as ZywOo flashed from the CT spawn to announce himself, then ran the long way round and caught them from behind. The respect he gets in those spots is half the reason he wins them, and The MongolZ gave him every second he needed.
The others joined in. mezii, the stand-in captain who has taken over the calls while apEX is on paternity leave, found a triple kill on a retake, and ropz closed the half with a triple of his own after a perfect flash from mezii in mid. Vitality went into the break 7-5 up, won the first three rounds of their T side, and lost only once more. ZywOo ended Inferno 19-9, and mezii 15-7.
The MongolZ never found a second plan. Once Vitality had read the fake, the T side had nothing else to fall back on, and with nin9 and cobrazera only weeks into the lineup, that is where the short preparation showed.
flameZ takes Cache
Cache was Vitality’s pick and the map everyone expected ZywOo to own. He did well there too, 16-7 with 123.1 ADR, but the map belonged to flameZ. He went 22-7 with 123.6 ADR, had a four-kill round on the T side in the first half and finished the map himself, winning the last duel when 910 was left alone against two.
The MongolZ won the pistol round again and then lost almost everything after it. Vitality reached the half 9-3, and in the second pistol round, with nothing to lose, three Vitality players stacked behind the same door. It worked, ZywOo’s USP did the rest, and Vitality won all four rounds of the half. The MongolZ have played only two Cache maps in the past three months, and against a team that had won eight of its nine Cache maps in that time, it showed. nin9 finished Cache 4-13.
Between the two maps, PGL aired an interview with nin9, back in a MongolZ shirt for the first time since 2018. The former in-game leader and AWPer said he is now a rifler, that bLitz calls the game, and that he does not do any secondary calling for now, because he is still learning his new teammates’ habits. Rifling, he said, was something he had wanted to try for a long time.
Two players, one team’s worth of kills
ZywOo and flameZ finished the series with 69 kills between them. The whole of The MongolZ managed 81. All five Vitality players ended on the plus side, with jL at 21-16 in his second match as the stand-in. Under the roster rule in Valve’s Regional Standings, five matches in Bucharest would put jL in apEX’s place on Vitality’s invitation for PGL Major Singapore. He now has two.
On the other side, 910 was the only MongolZ player who came close to even at 23-26. Techno died 32 times, and cobrazera averaged 41.6 ADR. A day after all five of them finished with more kills than deaths against Aurora, none of them did here.
Where Bucharest goes from here
The win is Vitality’s tenth straight series, and it puts them alongside FUT on two wins and no losses. A third win takes them to the playoffs. The Valve ranking barely notices it: Vitality add a point and stay first.
For The MongolZ, it ends a run of five straight series wins that included the title in Belgrade. They now sit on one win and one loss, and need two more victories before a second defeat to stay in the event. The loss costs them three points in the Regional Standings and one place, from 18th to 19th. Before the series, HLTV’s invite simulation gave them a 64.8% chance of a place at BLAST Bounty 2027 Season 1, falling to 58.6% with a loss.
