Astralis fell to MOUZ at the BLAST Premier Bounty S2 which is BLAST’s first studio event show as part of their multi-year deal with GamingMalta. MOUZ won the series comfortably taking Astralis’ pick Nuke 13-8 and closing out the series on Mirage 13-4.
Pley.gg talked to Victor “Staehr” Staehr after the game and he kept the review blunt. He felt Nuke was serviceable but slipped on the details, saying they “messed up a little bit on our CT side.” Mirage offered fewer positives. “They were the better team today. We didn’t hit our shots and they also outplayed us on the executes.”
The BLAST Bounty format gave Astralis a choice between MOUZ and Vitality. The team went with MOUZ out of respect for Vitality’s form and firepower. Staehr pointed to the French side’s winning streak and added “they have ZywOo,” also noting Vitality have stacked seven trophies this year, which made MOUZ the more pragmatic draw.
Steadying the ship
Since Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen joined, Astralis have steadied. Staehr doesn’t oversell it, though. He admits they still struggle against the absolute top teams while handling lower ranked opponents with far more consistency. The message is measured optimism:
“For sure we’re on the right path. I don’t know if we’re ready [to win trophies] right now, but we will be there at some point.”
As for the jersey’s legacy, Staehr says it isn’t a weight. The four-time Major era sits six years in the past, and he is not interested in chasing ghosts. He still calls the old Astralis core the best Counter-Strike team to ever exist and adds that this roster should not measure itself against that standard.
“Of course they were great, but it’s been six years since that legendary team, so we shouldn’t measure ourselves against them.”
Against MOUZ the margins told the story. CT discipline on Nuke wavered, trades and timing on Mirage fell short, and a few small gaps became lost halves. Under HooXi the structure looks cleaner and the floor higher. Converting that into wins over the very top teams is the next step for Astralis.
