zweih got his revenge by eliminating Spirit, but it wasn’t him carrying his team over the line.
Ivan ‘zweih’ Gogin’s choice of Team Spirit has paid off massively, getting a new young team to its first top four ever at an elite tournament.
Team Spirit were the massive favorite going into this series, having made two roster changes in order to compete with Vitality. Instead they’re now eliminated by a local rival.
Spirit loses their map pick
The series started off on Overpass, PARIVISION’s pick. Spirit dominated them, starting well on the CT-side. They kept the ball rolling at closed out 13-5.
On Mirage, Spirit’s pick, they started slow, but it was neck and neck after the first half. In the second half, PARIVISION really got rolling when they got control of the economy.
Their leader and AWPer, Dzhami ‘Jame’ Ali, was the standout. He got crucial picks throughout Mirage and sent it to Ancient.
There, PARIVISION grinded out a victory, which got more and more out of Spirit’s hands. PARIVISION had an even team performance, with Jame and Andrey ‘BELCHONOKK’ Yasinskiy standing out.
Spirit had Daniil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets firing, but he cooled off on the final map, and they could not make up for it.
PARIVISION get a crack at one of the top teams in the world tomorrow, going much further than expected.
