The South American team beat Falcons and G2 in finals this year in China to secure two trophies.
Legacy have gotten their second trophy this year, making their year’s cabinet larger than teams like Falcons, and equalling NAVI’s haul.
They won FISSURE Playground Season 3 by embarrassing G2 across three maps, including a 13-4 stomp on the final nail in the coffin, Dust2. Bruno ‘latto’ Rebelatto was by far the most dominant player on the server, one kill shy of 70 kills across three maps, or 23 kills per map.
G2 completely outplayed except for silver lining
G2 had chances on the first two maps of the series. Winning both pistols, they put themselves in the driver’s seat to take control of Ancient. However, Legacy were tenacious, winning both force buys to break G2’s economy, and seizing back control in both halves to win 13-9.
On the second map, G2’s pick of Mirage, things started horribly for them, as Legacy was too strong on the defense. Through strong reads on the offense, Legacy built up a near-insurmountable 9-3 lead. The second half had more in store as Guy ‘NertZ’ Iluz continued strong form but faltered 10-13.
Dust2 was the final nail in the coffin for G2, as Santino ‘try’ Rigal and latto tore them up on the T-side, and were unable to manage a single T round in the second half, losing 4-13. G2’s run ends with a whimper, despite a heartening performance against BetBoom in the semi-final.
Throughout this final, Legacy had all the reads and firepower advantage necessary, with nearly double the first kills (40 to 22). Both try and latto dwarfed their counterparts on G2, but a silver lining was NertZ, who somehow had the highest damage on the server (107 damage per round).
11-4 match record since adding try
Across the last three events Legacy have played, they have only lost to Team Spirit, Vitality with a stand-in, FaZe and Falcons, also defeating FUT in series play and FURIA twice along the way.
In fact, they have been on a tear since adding Argentinan AWPer, try, going on an 11-4 run since the start of the Esports World Cup, with wins against opponents like Falcons.
