jawgemo set to swap G2 for Vitality and VCT EMEA

The 2023 world champion would take Derke's place in the team that finished second at Champions Shanghai.

The 2023 world champion would take Derke’s place in the team that finished second at Champions Shanghai and move his career from the Americas to Europe.

Alexander “jawgemo” Mor is set to join Team Vitality for the 2027 VCT season, Sheep Esports reports. The 27-year-old American has spent the last two years at G2 Esports in VCT Americas and would fill the duelist spot Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev left at the French organisation. Neither Vitality, G2 nor the player has confirmed the move.

According to Sheep’s sources, Vitality also looked at other duelists, with former Team Heretics player Mert “Wo0t” Alkan among the candidates, before deciding to go ahead with jawgemo. Sheep’s post on X describes the deal as a verbal agreement.

The report came a day after we wrote that G2 are close to signing HYUNMIN as jawgemo’s replacement. Sheep describes jawgemo as a former G2 player, but VLR still lists him on G2’s roster, and G2 have not announced his departure.

Vitality’s 2026 began without an international event. They finished fifth at EMEA Kickoff and missed Masters Santiago, then reached the Stage 1 final and went on to fourth place at Masters London, where LEVIATÁN knocked them out. Stage 2 ended in the first round of the playoffs, with series defeats to Enterprise Esports and Fire Flux Esports, but Vitality still made it to Shanghai.

At Champions they produced their best international result. They beat G2 2-0 in the upper bracket semi-final, with jawgemo going 15-20 on Abyss and 7-16 on Split, and lost the grand final 3-1 to LOUD, who became the first two-time world champions. Second place was worth $400,000.

Within a week of the final, the team started to come apart. Derke left on 24 October and has since joined Aurora, and coach PAL followed on 26 October. Vitality kept their partner seat, which they announced on X as a place in the league “for the next two years”.

With jawgemo, Vitality’s lineup would be complete again:

From the Americas to EMEA

jawgemo has spent his whole VCT career in the Americas. He joined Evil Geniuses in January 2022, won VALORANT Champions 2023 with them after second place at Masters Tokyo the same year, and signed for G2 in October 2024. His first season there brought the Americas Kickoff, Stage 1 and Stage 2 titles and second place at Masters Bangkok.

2026 was harder on him personally. G2 won Stage 1 and reached the top four at both Masters Santiago and Champions, but Santiago was the only event of the season where jawgemo finished with more kills than deaths. Sheep’s own verdict is that he “did not have his best year individually”.

The gap to the man he would replace is smaller than Derke’s name suggests. At Champions, Derke went 353-344 with 139.6 ADR over 21 maps, while jawgemo had 139.5 ADR over 17. Derke’s big numbers came earlier in the year, with 232-183 and 168.5 ADR in London.

Raze is jawgemo’s signature agent, played on 191 maps over his career, roughly twice as many as Yoru, Jett and Neon, which come next with 93 or 94 each.

What it means for G2

For G2, the reported move would close a two-year spell that brought jawgemo four regional titles, three in 2025 and Stage 1 in 2026. Sheep has also reported that LEVIATÁN pair Sato and kiNgg are set to join G2, which together with HYUNMIN would leave trent and leaf as the only players from the side that finished fourth in Shanghai.

In EMEA, jawgemo would be the only player in Vitality’s five from outside Europe, next to a Finn, a Pole, a Russian and a Moldovan.
