VALORANT Agent Mastery Guide: How to Level Up and Unlock Rewards

VALORANT Patch 13.06 has officially launched, and alongside the new Warden rifle and Gauntlet game mode comes a massive overhaul to how you show off your dedication to your favorite agents. The new Agent Mastery system is now live, bringing with it custom Agent IDs, new progression tracks, and exclusive cosmetic rewards.

If you are confused about how Act Levels, Lifetime Levels, and Mastery Points work, here is a complete breakdown of the new Agent Mastery system.

Act Levels vs. Lifetime Levels

The first thing you will notice when you open the new “View Mastery” tab on any agent is the presence of two distinct leveling systems: Act Levels and Lifetime Levels.

  • Act Levels: This tracks your progress with a specific agent during the current Act. There are 10 main levels to progress through. Reaching levels 4, 7, and 10 will upgrade the border on your Agent Portrait. Crucially, your Act Level resets to zero at the start of every new Act. (The patch notes mention an “overleveling” feature for those who pass level 10, but the exact rewards for this remain unclear).
  • Lifetime Levels: This tracks your overall, permanent progress with an agent. It never resets. Earning one Act Level simultaneously earns you one Lifetime Level. Your Lifetime Level dictates which exclusive cosmetics you are allowed to purchase from the agent’s Reward Track.

How to Earn Mastery Points (MP)

To increase your levels, you need to earn Mastery Points (MP).

You earn MP simply by playing your chosen agent in standard game modes where you utilize their abilities (Unrated, Competitive, Swiftplay). You will receive bonus MP for winning matches and for strong individual performances (e.g., getting a high combat score).

Note: Modes like Deathmatch, Escalation, and Gauntlet: Glitched do not award Mastery Points, as they do not reflect traditional agent ability usage.

Unlocking Rewards and the Agent ID

As your Lifetime Level increases, you gain the ability to purchase rewards using Kingdom Credits.

While players get to keep any Agent Gear they unlocked in previous Acts (like the Jett Sheriff), all future agent-specific cosmetics are now locked behind this new mastery wall. As you grind higher levels, the rewards become significantly more premium:

  • Level 25: Unlocks a special Mastery Pose for your Agent ID.
  • Level 30: Unlocks a highly anticipated animated player card for that specific agent.

Customizing Your Agent ID All of these rewards feed into your new Agent ID. You can heavily customize your ID with specific backgrounds, animated frames, and unique agent quotes (which cost 5,000 Kingdom Credits each).

You can also display specific stats on your ID. Basic stats like Assists and Free Kills are available by default. However, premium stats – such as Aces, First Bloods, Headshot Percentage, and Win Rate—must be unlocked by reaching Lifetime Level 30 and spending 2,500 Kingdom Credits.

Your customized Agent IDs are proudly displayed on the newly revamped Career page, allowing anyone on your friends list to see exactly how dedicated you are to your main.
