Earlier this week, the North Americans from Bad News Bears lost their powerful AWPer Peter “ptr” Gurney, as he decided to retire from competitive CS:GO – Just two weeks before one of their biggest event ever in ESL Pro League Season 14.

However, Bad News Beats has already found ptr’s replacement, with the NA based team having secured the promising AWPer Paytyn “Junior” Johnson on a loan agreement. Junior’s current team, FURIA has allowed the 20-year-old to participate in the $750.000 event with his countrymen.

The announcement comes after a rather disappointing period for Junior, as the former Triumph player has been sidelined for two months on FURIA, owing to Lucas “honda” Cano taking his place on the Brazilian roster. ESL Pro League will begin on the 16th of August.

Peter “ptr” Gurney has announced his retirement from competitive Counter-Strike, leaving the scene after a long career at multiple North American top teams. The 31-year-old veteran has been a profile in the NA landscape for years, however, the international breakthrough never really came for the fierce AWPer.

ptr has in a Tweet revealed that he wishes to focus on his poker career.

ptr was a big factor for Bad News Bears in their victory at ESEA Premier Season 36 NA this year, which got them a place in the prestigious ESL Pro League Season 14. The strong sniper will unfortunately not follow his teammates to the $750.000 event - Which means Bad News Bears has less than two weeks to find a new AWPer before the start in mid-August. The former Complexity and NRG eSports player ended 2021 with a strong 1.15 Rating.

After a lackluster performance at CS_Summit 8, the org-less Bad News Bears have decided to shake things up. The Americans have benched Nick 'alter' Jackson and replaced him with Alan 'Shakezullah' Hardeman.

According to HLTV.org, Shakezullah will overtake the in-game leader role from Peter 'ptr⁠' Gurney. The 23-year-old American had been with Triumph since February 2020 and had recently played as a stand-in for Bad News Bears in the ESEA Spring Cash Cup.
