Apeks will be on the hunt for a new in-game leader after the team today announced, that they will be spending the summer break chasing two new players to their team.

- It is a pity that we ended up here, but together with the players we have decided that changes are necessary. We simply ended up having the wrong composition of players, Head of Esports, Anders Kjær explains in the press release.

Asger "AcilioN" Larsen was the longest-standing member of the current roster, while Hugo "Chawzyyy" Günther joined the team at the start of the year. Apeks came close at the start of the year to winning Pinnacle Winter Series but lost out in the Grand Final to K23. The team won Tipsport Bratislava Cup 2022 in April but has failed to qualify for several of the bigger tournaments on the circuit including the PGL Major in Antwerp.

In early January this year, Martin “STYKO” Styk was announced as the fifth member of Apeks, joining the likes of Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad and the former NIP AWPer, Tim “nawwk” Jonasson.

We got the opportunity to link up with STYKO for an interview, here nearly three months after his transfer to the Norwegian side. 

Talking about the Apeks roster, the former FunPlus Phoenix rifler was very pleased with his new teammates, where he highlighted the lack of a star player. Something, the Slovakian rifler doesn’t see as a liability.

- I have been playing for quite some time now, and I have always been on a team where there’s been a certain star, but here it’s more of a teamplay team, STYKO said and continued:

- We will try to improve our communication, which will be vital for us to grow. I know it's 100% doable to have a great team without a star player. We just have to find our own way of working, which is comfortable for the five of us – then we can do wonders.

STYKO left it no secret, which Apeks teammate he wanted to work with the most. And that was the talented 16-year-old, Hugo “chawzyyy “ Günther.

- When I saw the names on the lineup, I got especially hyped over Chawzyyy (…) the guy is ultimately really good in pretty much every aspect of the game – if it’s entering, if it’s clutching, if’s gameplay and nades. What we are trying to develop with him is his communication, initiation, and overall being more assertive on the server.

Apeks have signed the 16-year-old Swede to their roster, and with the recent signing of Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad, Apeks’ roster comes one step closer to completion. The last player is still unknown.

Apeks are very happy to get another piece of the puzzle.

The Norwegians from Apeks has finalized their new roster with the fresh signing of Martin “STYKO” Styk, the organization announced Sunday evening. The former FunPlus Phoenix player will be the only non-Scandinavian on the team sheet, which is led by the Danish in-game leader Asger "⁠AcilioN⁠" Larsen.

After having sealed all five players for Apeks 2.0, Head of Esports, Anders Kjær has high goals for the which is starred by Joakim "⁠jkaem⁠" Myrbostad and Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson.

- With this team, I have one big goal, and that is reaching the Majors. We have never had a team as good as this, and we know they can do even more than they have done before. With the final addition of STYKO we are now ready to take on any challenge 2022 will bring us, Kjær said and continued:

STYKO is beginning to be an experienced veteran on the CS:GO scene, with the 25-year-old Slovakian having played for several big organizations in the past as HellRaisers, mousesports, Cloud9 and most recently FunPlus Phoenix. At Apeks, he will once play in an international lineup, where especially one individual has caught his eye.  

-The most important points for me were definitely the vision of the project as well as the line-up that I will be working with. Despite having a lot of known and proven players around me, I’m most excited about working with our young-gun chawzyyy.

- He is the talent I would like to work with and help him develop into a star. And that is partly what I will bring to the team. Guidance, experience, and general approach are all something I can aid the team with. The Swedish Organization announced its new lineup on Twitter this evening.

The two new players are the 15-year-old rifler Hugo "⁠Chawzyyy⁠" Günther, and 16-year-old AWPer Joel "⁠joelxd⁠" Holmlund. The two young players joins Galaxy Racer after a stint at Flowskola. The two youngster will replace the twin brothers, Joakim "⁠Relaxa⁠" Gustafsson and Fredrik "⁠FREDDyFROG⁠".
