A 16-year-old fan was removed and expelled from the Major by security after he insulted players.
In the Riocentro where the IEM Rio Major is taking place, a 16-year-old CS:GO fan was expelled after he cursed and offended players with inappropriate gestures on the fourth and final day of the Challengers Stage. The 16-year-old got removed by security and is no longer allowed to enter the arena throughout the Major.
The fan told Dust2 Brasil that he had been interacting with foreign players since Monday and claimed that many of them responded to his insults with jokes, and he’s unsure of who asked for his removal at the beginning of the confrontation.
ESL staff confirmed the removal of the fan after the match.
“The fan was removed by security for constant verbal and physical threats that were aimed directly at teams on the opening days of the event, which ended up leading to him being removed from the venue”, ESL said in a statement to the press.
The young fan stated that he didn’t know who made the request to kick him out, if it was made by players from the teams who were on stage, or by people he offended in the first two days.
“I arrived to support Vitality, I cursed OG a little. And then, at the first pistol round, two security men arrived asking me to leave, because someone requested me to be kicked out, saying they wouldn’t play with me up front”, the 16-year-old fan said.
According to him, the gesture of “the reaper”, with the finger “cutting” the next, is probably what costed him a ban from entering again.
“They got it wrong. Apparently, it was the reaper’s gesture that made me be taken away from the Major. The guys took it with malice, they didn’t understand it was a joke. If you ask me now, I will say that I regret it, because I was expelled. But I would continue, (cursing) yes, a little less, for sure. I would continue to support Brazil.”
