The worst meta in Counter-Strike?
Counter-Strike professionals give their take on the worst CS:GO meta ever
With Counter-Strike having existed for over eight years now there have, of course, been many different metas. Some based on strategy, some based on utility, but there have also been some crazy ones based on the games' weapons.
In an interview with many top-tier professional players, Betway asked what they thought the worst meta had been for the game. Almost unanimously they answered: "The Krieg-meta." The "Krieg", also known as the SG 552, is a rifle that was made stronger in a period of time last year. This resulted in top-tier AWP'ers such as "Device" leaving behind the sniper-rifle in order to buy the SG 552. After months of spreading havoc across the scene, the SG 552 was finally nerfed and is now rarely seen in competitive play.
Here is what some of the professional players had to say about the "Krieg-meta":
"rain": "The Krieg was just hard for anyone to fight against. If you had an AWP and you met a Krieg, the Krieg would still have an advantage somehow."
"tabseN": "You had a second AWP, basically, which was very fast. You could move, you could one-shot everyone from every distance. It dealt so much damage and was just too easy to play with.
Whilst it is now very rare to see the SG 552 in competitive play, it made for some ridiculous highlights at the time!
