Will Astralis crumble once again? – BLAST Showdown preview
There's a lot on the line when the eight teams are set to clash in this week's top-tier event.
Wednesday will mark the start of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown presenting a strong lineup of teams. Starring the tournament, we have Vitality who recently has dethroned FaZe on the world ranking, followed by the Danish favourites from Astralis and Heroic.
The goal for each team and the overall prize is very clear: To grab the sole ticket for the prominent BLAST Premier Fall Final event in Royal Copenhagen later this year. The only way to that is to win the Grand Final five days from now.
Here is our tournament preview.
Teams
Vitality (#1) – Heroic (#2) – BIG (#15) – Astralis (#16) – Eternal Fire (#19) – Sangal (#34) – ECSTATIC (#49) – TYLOO (#191)
Favourites
Vitality
Vitality is without of doubt the heavy favorites going into tournament this week. The star-studded team seems to have found the perfect mix after bringing in Lotan “Spinx” Giladi in August this year, which has led them to a number one spot on HLTV’s world ranking.
Yes, Spinx has been a great acquisition – but the biggest factor for Vitality’s recent success, is the resurrection of Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. Since the player break, the French icon has averaged a stellar 1.35 Rating and carried apEX and company time after time.
Heroic
The Danes from Heroic arrive at the tournament in fine form with Casper “cadiaN” Møller and his troops sealing a Legends Stage spot at the newly-concluded RMR event. Here they only lost one match being a best-of-1 against Outsiders - in fact Heroic managed to defeat ZywOo and the rest of Vitality 2-1.
Going to BLAST Premier Fall Final in the massive Royal Arena in Copenhagen will be a very important thing for the Danish lineup to achieve, as they won’t get many better opportunities to play in front of a packed arena in their home country of Denmark. Something that could be an extra motivation for Heroic when competing this week.
Astralis
One could say that BIG or even Eternal Fire is stronger favorites than Astralis. With that being said, this event is so much more important for Astralis than it is for the two other teams, due to the same reason as mentioned before with Heroic: To play in front of your most loyal and supportive fans in Royal Arena.
Astralis also have to look out for their countrymen from Heroic who currently has surpassed them as the best Danish CS:GO team. The power balance between the two squads can change massively if one team manages to qualify for BLAST Fall Final without the other team attending.
