"We’re playing for glory": rain says FaZe won’t chase money in a packed 2025 calendar
Håvard “rain” Nygaard suggests some teams may prioritize financial gains over the prestige of high-profile events.
Counter-Strike is set for major changes in 2025, as Valve’s removal of the infamous partner leagues undoubtedly will create a more open and crowded tournament calendar.
With top events overlapping, teams may need to choose between lucrative but less prestigious tournaments and high-profile competitions in big arenas.
But that will not be a dilemma for FaZe, according to their Norwegian rifler Håvard “rain” Nygaard.
- We’re playing for glory, we want to play in the greatest events with the greatest stadiums and the most prestige,” rain has said in an interview with esports.gg.
He continued:
- I think some teams are probably going to pick smaller events where they have a bigger prize pool but you don't get to play on stage, for example.”
During the interview, rain also addressed the potential temptations for teams to attend certain tournaments due to lucrative participation fees.
- I think there are also some organizations or organizers that are going hand out money or something to certain teams if they stay within their circuit and finishing all those rounds. I don't know if they're trying to make it like ‘Come to us, we have money for the organization,’ it could create like a little bubble for themselves, rain said to esports.gg.
