WePlay Academy League postponed due to a “massive missile attack” in Ukraine
The renowned academy tournament has been suspended for now.
The sixth season of the renowned WePlay Academy League was set to commence this Monday. However, that will not happen today, the tournament organizers have announced on Twitter.
In a written statement, WePlay Esports has stated that they have been forced to postpone the start of the tournament because of their employee's safety following a missile attack in Ukraine, where the majority of the organizing team is located.
- Today our entire country woke up to a massive missile attack by the Russian Federation. Sirens and explosions are heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, and a dozen of other cities in Ukraine. Some areas have the electricity supply cut off. Dozens of dead and hundreds of wounded are already reported.
- Due to this, we are forced to postpone the start of WePlay Academy League Season 6. Our main value is our employees’ safety, and we cannot expose them to additional risk. Further updates on tournament start will be announced later, WePlay wrote on Twitter.
