Vertigo

de_vertigo was created by Chris “Narby” Auty and introduced on June 27th, 1999 in Counter-Strike 1.1.

Vertigo:

Vertigo has also been a part of the Counter-Strike history since 1999, but it was only in 2019 after an extensive rework that the map was added to the Active Duty Map Pool.

Vertigo is the newest addition to the CS:GO competetive map pool. After countless of updates, the map has finally started to be accepted by the community and players. The map is a slighty T-sided map and has a double layered format. Vertigo sees the teams take upon eachother on the top two floors of a skyscraper that is under construction.

The map was created by Chris Barney Auty and made its first ever appearance in the Counter-Strike series back in 2001. For many people in the community, the map was seen more of a non-competetive map. However, it all changed in 2019, when a reworked version of Vertigo was added to the competetive map pool to replace Cache.

Historical plays

In a match against 100 Thieves in ESL Pro League Season 12 NA, FURIA showed the world an unseen triple boost on Vertigo. Before this match, the boost was never seen before in a professional match and it really caught everyone’s attention. It’s a very strong position as it allows the boosted player to see any Terrorists coming up at ‘Scaffold’ before they can see him. The boosted player is also able to peek nearly the entire ‘Ramp’.

Nordavind vs AGO – First pro match on Vertigo

First time Vertigo was played in the competitive history of CS:GO, was on April 3, 2019 in a match between AGO and Nordavind. The map was picked by Nordavind’s roster and during the match it became very clear that the Scandinavian squad had prepared a lot for it. Nordavind knew how to use utilities and execute on bomb sites, understanding the value of certain positions. AGO on the other hand, looked totally unprepared as they didn’t know the map that well and relied a lot on individual performances.
