Valve teases CS2 launch: What are you doing on Wednesday 27th of September?
Counter-Strike 2 could be less than a week away from launch!
Rumors have been circling for the past few days that ESL Pro League Season 18 will be the last Tier-1 tournament played in CS:GO. Judged from the tweet that Valve made last night, this might actually be true.
At the launch of the limited test of CS2, Valve made it clear, that they expected the full launch of the game during the "Summer 2023". So now we all know, that September is part of the summer - at least in the eyes of Valve. September the 27th of September could very well be the launch date of Counter-Strike 2.
In 2018 Valve did however make the exact same tweet and then went on to release a major update to the game the next Thursday.
The term "Valve time" has even gotten its own website, so don't be too disappointed, if the game doesn't come out on Wednesday...
What to expect in the full game of CS2?
The full game of Counter-Strike 2 will open up the possibility of playing Competitive mode and Wingman. These two modes have not been released in the limited test of CS2, where it is only the "Premier" mode alongside Casual and Deathmatch that has been made available. It is not known whether we will see any of the War Games modes such as Retakes, Arms Race, Demolition, or Flying Scotsman in CS2.
In Competitive mode (where you pre-select the maps you want to play) you will also get a rank on each map, that you play. This is a new feature in the game that replaces the old ranking system. For Premier mode you will still have the rating as we know it from the limited test of CS2.
It is expected that we will get a new operation with the launch of CS2. New types of knives have also been spotted in the coding of the game, so there could be plenty of new stuff for all the skin-lovers of CS. The last case that was dropped in CS:GO is all the way back to February 2023.
