BIG have announced that their 26-year-old AWPer Florian “syrsoN” Rische will not be on the team card for Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 due to him testing positive for COVID-19 after returning from the IEM Rio Major in Brazil. Josef “faveN” Baumann who missed out on the Major and the RMR’s because of illness, will now return to the German lineup to replace the star AWPer in their third consecutive event with a stand-in. During 2022, the German squad fielded four rosters due to player unavailability. It will be interesting to see how far they can get in the tournament without their main AWPer on the server.

Before syrsoN was ruled out of the Elisa Masters, BIG were one of the big favorites to win the event, attending as the third-highest-ranked team on the team list.
