stavn: I think there’s no doubt anymore; we are not just “onliners”
Before the start of BLAST Premier Fall Final, the profiled rifler sat down with Pley.gg to talk about Heroic’s impressive progress.
Heroic is currently situated at the very top of competitive Counter-Strike, with the Danish side recently having clinched an impressive Top 4 placement in the newly-finished PGL Stockholm Major. However, the lack of silverware from LAN tournaments has made someone in the CS:GO community dub them as “onliners” – A team who only can perform online.
Going into BLAST Fall Final, we got the chance to talk with Martin “stavn” Lund about this “onliners” stigma and why the 19-year-old Dane doesn’t believe it suits Heroic.
- I think there’s no doubt anymore about us not being just “onliners”, who only can perform online. I think we have proofed now on LAN that we can play as good as we have done throughout the online era. So, I believe there are no questions any longer regarding our performance on LAN – We just have to perform to the expectations that people now have for us after our great result at the PGL Stockholm Major, stavn states and continues:
- Going to the Grand Final here at BLAST Final will be a great goal for us to have. For me, NAVI is still obvious favourites and the strongest team in the world right now, which they have cemented. Everyone is looking to beat NAVI, and I think we have a good shot at it, even though we lost against them last time. For me personally, I see every big LAN tournament as a great chance to show your worth as a player, and you obviously want to bring your A-game to these kinds of tournaments.
At BLAST Premier Fall Final, Heroic will play on home soil in front of a hopefully fully-packed Royal Arena in Copenhagen. Something, stavn sees as a huge advantage for Heroic at the $425.000 event, where they will kick of their campaign against Finn “karrigan” Andersen and FaZe.
- I have never played in front of a home crowd here in Denmark before. It’s something I have looked forward to and something that’s going to be really fun, and also to have both friends and family come over here in the arena will be a great experience. I believe playing in front of a home crowd here in Copenhagen for sure will be an advantage for us.
The matchup against FaZe is going to be a pretty interesting one. The last time we met them was at IEM Cologne, where we lost in a close 2-1 match, but I think we have developed a lot as a team since, which we also showed at the Major. I believe we are going to beat them here in the opening round.
