All stages of IEM Rio Major 2022 will be run with audience participation
Electronic Sports League released changes to the organising rules for the upcoming IEM Rio Major 2022. After numerous requests from the community and expert competitors, the organisers have decided to hold all phases of the event with spectators, as well as allocating an extra fan zone with Gala as host. There is now no doubt that IEM Rio Major 2022 will be the hottest and most significant event in CS: GO history.
Seats for the IEM Rio Major competition this year were completely sold out in a matter of minutes as thousands of people desired to attend this massive event. In response to this frantic demand, the organisators made a decision to reveal all the phases and give more options.
The promoters chose then to sell passes for the first phases of the competitions - Challengers and Legends - when it was previously revealed that the Jeunesse Arena audience would only be accessible for the championship’s play-offs. The initial two phases of the grand event will come about between October 31 and November 8 at the Riocentro Convention Centre in Rio de Janeiro.
This decision will make IEM Rio Major 2022 the 1st grand event in the history of CS:GO where viewers will be able to attend from start to finish for the 1st time since the introduction of the updated hosting system starting with DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015.
At the same time, the organisers have extended the pool of tickets for the play-off stage which will happen at the Jeunesse Arena. The operator of the championship has solved the problem by adding a 360° stage.
Tickets for the initial two phases of the event and additional arena seats became accessible for purchase on September 14. Passes for the fan zone went on sale on September 15.
Tickets were sold online on Eventbrite, with precautions implemented to ensure a smooth purchasing process from the start. They provided additional high-capacity servers and a new waiting room feature that allowed people to queue for a fair distribution of accessible tickets.
The hosts of the competition announced on their official Twitter profile that they anticipated so many fans who are enthusiastic about the forthcoming event. They stated that all tickets for the competition were over after about an hour. In fact, such huge eSports events as Dota 2 and the World Championship for League of Legends may boast such high speed of ticket sales.
The organisers have announced that the next wave of tickets will be sold based on past experience, protecting genuine fans from resellers and speculators.
The IEM Rio Major competition will commence on the last day of October and will last until November 13th. The location for this mega event is Jeunesse Arena has the capacity to host around nineteen thousand viewers and the Riocentro Convention Centre in Brazil. In order to battle for a reward of one million dollars, four thousand ranking points in the BLAST Premier table and tickets to the BLAST Premier event, twenty-four squads from the Construction Industry Scheme, North and South America, Asia and Europe will participate in the contest.
The last major tournament ended on May 22. FaZe Clan, who earned half a million dollars, became the victors of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. They defeated Natus Vincere with a score of 2-0 and became the 1st contestant who acquired an invitation to the BLAST Premier.
