Skins CSGO rarity
The rarity of skins CSGO is one of the most important qualities that each CSGO skin possesses.
The rarity of skins CSGO is one of the most important qualities or features that each skin possesses. Valve’s team assigns skin rarity, also known as skin grade, to a specific skin at their choice. Because the grade has an impact on the statistical chance of dropping or uncasing a CSGO weapon skin, knife, or gloves, higher grade skins are far more rare than lower grade CSGO skins.
In CSGO, there are currently eight rarity grades. Each of these rarity grades has a general pricing range as well as a few well-known rarity grade skins. When it comes to CSGO skin rarity, the rarer the skin is, the more expensive it becomes.
Consumer Grade (White)
The most widespread and common skins CSGO. These usually drop after a game of CSGO as a random drop. The majority of common skins CSGO cost only a few cents and are good for Trade Up contracts.
Industrial Grade (Light Blue)
These are a bit rarer than the Consumer Grade white ones, but still quite common. Just like the Consumer Grade ones, they often drop as random weekly rewards after CSGO matches. Industrial Grade skins usually cost a few cents up to couple of dollars.
Mil-Spec (Blue)
This is the first grade that drops from any Weapon Case in CSGO. There is a lot of blue CSGO skins on the CSGO skins market. Mil-Spec Blue skins can easily be obtained through Trade Up contracts and are often being used in them as well. Mil-Spec skins usually cost a few dollars, but some can even reach $100.
Restricted (Purple)
The Restricted Purple ones are more difficult to get than the blue skins. This is the most common rarity grade that still has some beautiful and interesting weapon skins. Their prices range from a few dollars up to a couple of hundreds. These Restricted skins CSGO are considered a sweet spot in CSGO skins trading and investing.
Classified (Pink)
Classified Pink skins are can be very rare and quite expensive. Many attractive skins CSGO are part of the Classified rarity grade. These are also often considered a sweet spot in CSGO skins trading due to their rarity and average prices.
Covert (Red)
Covert Red skins are extremely rare. The majority of these are assault rifles, AWPs, and knives, with a few pistols and SMG’s thrown in for good measure. Depending on the style and quality of the exterior, they can be quite costly.
Contraband (Orange)
Skins CSGO that were available to drop at some point in the game but were removed for various reasons. In CSGO, there is currently only one Contraband grade skin, better known as the M4A4 Howl.
Extraordinary (Gold)
The Extraordinary Gold category includes all gloves in CSGO. Every single item in this category is classified as “exceedingly rare.” They can range in price from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the item or skin.

M4A4 | Howl – The most controversial skin in CSGO
Many skins CSGO are in high demand because of their masterful work of art or design. But on the other hand, some CSGO skins have achieved legendary status in the CSGO community as a result of controversy. The M4A4 Howl is such an example. So, how did it become famous and well-known? Why did it need to be reborn in the first place? Well, if you’re unfamiliar with the famous story about the M4A4 Howl, here it is.
The rip-off
It all started in 2014, when the Skins CSGO Market was exploding. The developers from Valve had introduced the Arms Deal update a year prior, which finally allowed players to buy and sell CSGO skins. Additionally, virtual design artists on Steam were encouraged to post their ideas for skins CSGO in the Steam Workshop. Those artists whose work ended up being picked by the CSGO community, received money for their efforts.
Many artists, motivated by fame and money, submitted their work, as did plagiarists who just stole work from other artists. Auzzii and sic, two non-artists, posted a sticker and skin called “Howling Dawn” to the CSGO Workshop. Auzzii who claimed to have come up with the idea of the skin that got 4500 positive ratings, stated the following in his entry description: “I wanted to make an interesting [sic] illustration, so I created one. It originated from a picture of my dog, it’s kind of taking the ♥♥♥♥ out of him in a way as he’s the complete opposite [sic] to the wolf".
Because the artwork provided by Auzzii and sic received so much positive feedback by the Skins CSGO Community, it not only made it into the game of CSGO, but also a spot in the Huntsman collection. At that time, if players were lucky, they could get their hands on an M4A4 Howl by opening CSGO cases from that collection. The fraudsters got their money, the players got their skins CSGO, and the developers from Valve got a satisfied CSGO player base. It was a clear win-win situation for everyone, except for one person: The original artist, better known as CanisAlbus, who made the design for the M4A4 Howl.
CaniAlbus, a DeviantArt member, discovered in June 2014 that Auzzii’s submission did not “take cues” from his artwork called the “Dowling Howl”. Instead, it was an obvious rip-off. CanisAlbus took legal action because he was angered with what had happened. He also posted the following on his DeviantArt page: “I’m just letting you know that I did design this piece, but I didn’t upload the items to the steam marketplace and the spineless worm who submitted it didn’t have my permission to do so. However, I have reported both copyright infringements, and I’m hoping that the items will be removed soon.” CaniAlubs is right now playing his cards right because he’s asked himself “What is my CSGO inventory worth?”.
The controversial legend was born
The developers from Valve received a takedown notice from the DMCA, and Howl and five other weapons skins CSGO that sic had worked on were removed from the Huntsman Collection. CSGO players who didn’t own the Howl would never be able to get their hands on the original version, as Valve released a brand-new version of the Howl as a replacement to the original design.
