Six overtimes?! Poles eliminated from EU RMR after crazy series
Rebels and Nemiga really delivered when it came to entertainment in today's match in Shanghai.
In a dramatic elimination series between Nemiga and Rebels this Monday, we saw the first European team get sent home from the Chinese RMR.
The Poles from Rebels were the team to draw the shortest straw, losing 2-1 against the Russians after playing no less than six overtimes in the last two maps.
Four of them were on Anubis, where Rebels managed to steal Nemiga’s map pick with an impressive 25-23 scoreline.
If you thought the drama was to end on the decider, played in the jungle of Ancient, you thought wrong. With the action ending 12-12 in regulation, the two competitors continued to go back and forth as they grabbed three each in the first OT.
After another intense set of overtimes, Nemiga finally secured the map 19-17.
Today’s result marks Rebels’ third consecutive loss in Shanghai, which shatters the Poles' dreams of qualifying for the Perfect World Major in China.
While Rebels exit the RMR, Nemiga stays alive and will continue their campaign tomorrow.
