Russian star AWPer announces break from competitive play
Aurora will have to do without their profiled sniper on the server for an undisclosed period.
Denis “deko” Zhukov, once dubbed as one of Counter-Strike’s most promising talents and the next big thing in the CIS region, has yet to make his much-anticipated breakthrough.
Now, the 23-year-old Russian AWPer has decided to take a break from competitive play, his organization Aurora announced on Thursday.
In a statement, Aurora said:
- deko is taking a break from his competitive career.
- We’ve been discussing on how to come to the common denominator. Taking into account Denis's wishes and how he sees his future, we mutually decided to freeze the contract. Denis will be able to return to the professional stage at any time, and we will be happy to facilitate this, Aurora has said in a statement.
The announcement did not clarify the reasons behind deko's decision to step back. However, rumours about his potential retirement or a temporary break had been circulating prior to today’s news.
