PGL Copenhagen Major Elimination Stage Pick’em
Is anyone still hunting the diamond coin?
The opening stage of the PGL Copenhagen Major proved to be challenging! Our initial predictions took a hit when both SAW and Eternal Fire lost their 2-0 matchups. Nevertheless, we're back with fresh insights and recommendations for the next phase of the Pick’em game.
Elimination Stage Pick’em:
Teams Likely to Go 3-0:
The heavyweights are now entering the fray in the Elimination Stage. FaZe, Spirit, and Vitality are all regarded as top contenders for the entire tournament. But who should you back to achieve a flawless 3-0 record?
FaZe is known as a team that excels in high-pressure situations, often hitting their stride later in tournaments. However, in their past outings, they haven't secured a 3-0 record in any stage. Considering their track record, it's unlikely they'll achieve it this time either.
Similarly, Team Vitality falls into the same category. They might stumble in the initial phases of a tournament but tend to elevate their game when it truly matters. Thus, placing Vitality in the 3-1 or 3-2 bracket seems to be the safest option.
On the other hand, Team Spirit appears to be a solid pick for going 3-0. With an impressive record of 13 wins out of their last 14 matches, they are undoubtedly one of the favorites for the tournament. Additionally, they have had ample time to adapt to the evolving strategies of their opponents, making them a formidable force.
An underdog to watch out for is MOUZ. This German-based team stands out as one of the most intriguing contenders at the Major. With a lineup featuring four academy players, MOUZ exemplifies the potential of nurturing talent internally to enhance team synergy. Their recent victory against Spirit further solidifies their position as a dark horse in the competition.
Teams Expected to Go 3-1 and 3-2:
FaZe, Vitality, G2, and Virtus.pro are all formidable teams that are likely to progress. They have consistently showcased high-quality Counter-Strike in recent months. However, the competition intensifies from this point onward. Teams like NAVI, Cloud9, and Heroic should also be considered as strong contenders. We are inclined to choose Cloud9 and Heroic, leveraging their strong performance in the opening stage as a testament to their potential.
Teams Likely to Go 0-3:
paiN Gaming, Imperial, and TheMongolz are the only teams that failed to secure a victory against opponents who made it to this stage of the tournament. Imperial suffered defeats against both ECSTATIC and Heroic, while paiN Gaming was convincingly defeated by Eternal Fire. TheMongolz also faced losses against ECSTATIC and Eternal Fire. FURIA qualified as the last team to the event, and did actually not even face a team qualified for the next event. Still, we have seen a drastically improved Brazilian FURIA, which makes us believe that they should not be among the 0-3 teams.
From these, we predict paiN Gaming and Imperial to exit the Elimination Stage without a win.
Best of luck to all Pick’em players!
