Outsiders stay alive in ESL Pro League with 2-1 win against Sprout
After a rough start on Vertigo, Outsiders came back to defeat the Germans.
It’s been a weird tournament for the roster of Virtus.pro. The CIS team has been forced to play under a neutral name due to their team’s close ties with the Russian government. On the server, the roster has also been under unusual pressure. Two losses against FURIA and ENCE has put the worlds number six in a real danger of not making it out of the group stage at ESL Pro League.
Against the group underdogs from Sprout, the problems were again apparent. On Vertigo Sprout had their opponents on the edge with a 15-11 lead, but in typical VP fashion, they managed to force the map to overtime only to lose afterwards.
Inferno was competitive until the break. An 8-7 lead was very quickly converted to a 16-8 win for Outsiders, who played a stellar CT-side.
Dust2 started as a back and forth show. But after some chaos rounds in the beginning, Outsiders began to find some consecutive rounds to establish a lead, which led them to secure a dominant 12-3 half time lead. At that point, Sprout’s chances to win the map and therefore also the series, looked quite hopeless, with the CIS team completely outplaying the underdogs round after round.
With Sprout only winning one round after the switch, Outsiders secured themselves a much-needed 2-1 win in Group B, as they stay alive before the last round of play. Sprout, on the other hand, has no shot at playoffs after losing four consecutive matches at the prominent event.
