Online tournaments aren’t that bad at all
The ongoing corona pandemic caused Valve and other tournament organizations to cancel all LAN tournaments and adapt to the online scene.
Former CS player Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill is looking at things from the positive side and he thinks BLAST has done a good job so far, being the best CS broadcast of the year to adapt to the new way of match streaming.
“I’ve watched a decent chunk of @BLASTPremier the last few days and I’d say they’ve hands down done the best CS broadcast of the year,” SPUNJ wrote on Twitter. He also adds that “The player cams actually being synced/live adds so much. During timeouts is really the icing on the cake.”
The player cams give the viewer a look behind the curtain and show what it’s like to function at the top level of CS. It also shows the personality of the player maybe even more than the LAN tournaments would.
The content has been engaging so far and the online scene has opened up a new world of Counter-Strike streaming.
