ohnePixel on using loophole: I wonder why more teams don't do it
"Stupid not to do it," the DRILLAS kingpin says in a post-match interview.
One of the biggest talking points at the RMR tournament has been DRILLAS competing in the Asian Major qualifier despite fielding a majority of European players.
Something that has sparked some criticism due to the ethics of opting to play in a lesser competitive Major qualifier.
“Stupid not to do it”
Mark "ohnePixel" Zimmermann, the man behind DRILLAS, has openly addressed the backlash. Speaking to James Banks on the broadcast after DRILLAS’ elimination, he seems to wonder why more teams haven’t done the same as them.
- Rules are rules, it is what it is, we just follow them. The players have to pay their bills - if there's a chance to make it to the Major, they take it. It's stupid not to do it. I wonder why more teams don't do it. Maybe it's because of the backlash, but it is what it is. I said fuck it.
- To be completely honest, it felt like 90% was on our side. The people that are against you are always the most vocal, ohnePixel said to Banks.
Close but no cigar
ohnePixel and DRILLAS came super close to realizing their goal of qualifying for the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Heading into the final day of the Asian RMR, the team needed just one more best-of-three win to secure their ticket to the prestigious $1.25 million tournament.
However, the dream came to an abrupt end this morning in a heartbreaking loss to the Australians from FlyQuest. In a tense battle, DRILLAS had multiple chances to close out the series but couldn’t convert the match points, ultimately falling short in the decider.
DRILLAS’ results at the Asian RMR:
1-2 vs FlyQuest
1-2 vs The MongolZ
13-11 vs Lynn Vision
