NIP set to miss young rifler for remainder of 2024
A tough blow for the Swedish squad as they will have to do without Max “maxster” Jansson in the upcoming Major cycle.
Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) have confirmed that 20-year-old rifler Max “maxster” Jansson will be sidelined for the rest of the year due to health issues.
The young talent has been out since mid-October ever since it was revealed that he was set to miss Elisa Masters Espoo, because of an 'unforeseen health emergency.'
NIP’s academy player, Jacob "jocab" Nerheden, has been filling in during maxster's absence and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of 2024.
maxster won't be on the server with REZ and company when NIP start their RMR campaign later this month.
Not a benching
The Swedish organization proclaimed the news in a video on X with head coach Richard "Xizt" Landström and general manager Björn "THREAT" Pers.
The decision has been made to find more consistency, and it’s neither a benching of maxster nor a promotion of jocab, they explain.
- The good news is max is doing better and better every day. But we felt that he won’t be ready to jump into practice, bootcamp and playing officials before the RMR – and that’s a huge factor in why we made this call, Xizt said in the video.
NIP will play their first match at the European RMR 21st of November, where they take on G2.
