m0NESY on jame’s crash: We were going to save in that round
The Russian AWPer talks about the controversial round on Inferno.
Virtus.pro was eliminated from the Copenhagen Major this evening after losing to G2.
The big talking point after the match was an incident on map two on Inferno, where Dzhami “jame” Ali’s PC crashed in a crucial post-plant situation at 11-11, leaving G2 to win the round - and eventually also the entire series.
You can watch the controversial incident in the video below.
G2 were saving
Following the match, G2’s star AWPer Ilya “m0nesy” Osipov revealed in an interview with HLTV that G2 had decided to save and not go for the retake.
- It was crazy. We wanted to save, but HooXi said, 'let's save, but see if we kill one guy and then we can retake.' We killed him, [laughs], and went for the retake. I don't know what helped us but sometimes it happens, this stuff. Someone can crash, or PC crash, or whatever, m0NESY said to HLTV.
The match ended 2-1 to G2, meaning that they will qualify for the playoff stage over Virtus.pro.
PGL has issued the following statement regarding the incident:
