jL brutally honest after G2 loss: We vanished from the server
Hear from NAVI's star rifler jL and captain Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen as they reflect on their tough grand final loss at BLAST Premier Fall Final.
đPley.gg at BLAST Premier Fall Final in Forum Arena, Copenhagen.
This Sunday, NAVI had the chance to secure their second trophy in just a week after their recent ESL Pro League S20 victory.
However, the Major champions from Copenhagen were far from their best, struggling throughout the Grand Final against G2. In fact, they were never truly in contention, with G2 confidently sealing the series 3-1.
In a post-match interview with Pley.gg, NAVI's Justinas "jL" LekaviÄius didnât hold back on the teamâs disappointing performance.
âWe failed todayâ
- We did not come to win today - we did not even come to play. I do not know what we brought with us today, but it was not to win. We were playing a little scared and at times we even vanished from the server, and we couldnât find any solutions, and it did not make a difference that it was a Bo5 and not a Bo3.
- The game plan was fine but we couldnât contest them properly. We failed today. We failed as a team and we failed as individuals to deal with the pressure and to come up with solutions. And there were a lot of things from the game plan that we didnât follow through.
- Itâs when youâre losing you get the most experience. Itâs only going up from here. Weâre having a good run with us reaching five finals in a row, but the number one team in the world does not always win.
âWe were not the same NAVIâ
NAVIâs captain, Aleksi âAleksibâ Virolainen, echoed similar sentiments, lamenting how the team fell short of the standards they had set previously.
- I feel like the game felt familiar to a lot of our games against G2. For example, in the group stage here they had big lead against us on Dust2 but then we ended up playing a much better T side. And today, they kind of just ran away with the rounds, and we werenât there. We were not the same NAVI as we have shown previously and it obviously sucks, but weâve been playing really good regardless.
