Jame and co. lose their first match back under the VP banner
After more than a year of participating under the neutral tag ‘Outsiders’, Virtus.pro returned to their original name on Wednesday.
Last week, it was announced that Virtus.pro are returning to their namesake brand after over a year of participation under the neutral tag “Outsiders”. Virtus.pro, one of the most iconic esports organizations, had been forced to compete under a different name due to them having ties to the Russian government and to sanctioned entities.
The announcement was met with great excitement and anticipation as Virtus.pro fans looked forward to see their team under the real banner back in action. However, the team’s return to their original name did not go as planned as they lost their first match under the Virtus.pro banner against FORZE in the quarter-final of the BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic 2023 event.
Virtus.pro’s roster suffered a 0-2 loss to FORZE, with losses on Overpass (12-16) and Anubis (12-16). The team’s loss means they leave the event with a 5-8th place and $5,000, while FORZE advances to the semi-finals to meet MOUZ on Sunday at 16:00 (CET).
