“It’s the high point of the year”: EliGE is not fond of the removal of RMRs for next year
Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski will miss the current Major qualifying process, he explains in a recent interview with Dust2.us.
The current Major cycle will be the last time we see Regional Major Ranking (RMR) events used to determine what teams qualify for Counter-Strike Majors.
Starting next year, Valve instead plans to base Major invitations on its global ranking system.
EliGE is not a fan
While this shift aims to streamline qualification, Complexity’s Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski isn’t fully on board with the change.
In an interview with Dust2.us and Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore, EliGE shared his thoughts, expressing disappointment over the decision to retire RMRs entirely.
- For Complexity specifically as a team I don't have any crazy opinions from the team side, but my personal opinion is that I don't like the change, EliGE told Dust2.us and continued:
- The RMRs are something that's really fun to watch as a spectator and that's the high point of the year. I can understand the ranking invites to the RMRs, but removing them completely... the RMRs have been something very nice that we've had in the scene for a while.
EliGE and Complexity can look back at the last-ever RMR with smiles as the North Americans emerged victories in the Americas qualifier, securing a spot for the Shanghai Major with a 3-1 score.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major is set to begin later this month, following the conclusion of the European RMR tournaments.
