It’s confirmed! The Major will be played in Sweden
There is good news for Swedish Counter-Strike fans this Friday!
After long speculation and rumours of the upcoming Major having to be moved away from Sweden, more specifically Stockholm, the tournament organizers can now confirm that the upcoming championship will go nowhere. PGL announce that the Major will run as they “initially planned”.
- Following Sweden’s government announcements, removing all possible restrictions for esports events in Sweden, with all players on site, and allowing a full house for indoor arenas, we are pleased to announce that we will run the PGL MAJOR STOCKHOLM 2021 as we initially planned, PGL writes in an official statement.
In July this year, it came out that PGL was looking for alternative locations for the Major, due to certain Covid-19 regulations which made it difficult to run such a massive event, both concerning travel and crowd regulations. However, this week, the Swedish government eased some of the restrictions, which now means that the Major can take place like the tournament organizers originally planned for.
