Isak: Hopefully we will stay with each other for as long as possible
GamerLegion got off to a good start at the Major but fell at the final hurdle.
Isak “isak” Fahlén and company from GamerLegion came in to the IEM Rio Major as an underdog who had already exceeded all expectations just by making the Major.
GamerLegion got off to a wonderful start in the Challengers Stage, where they went up 2-0 on the first day by beating 9z and Team Vitality. Then the bo3 came, and GamerLegion weren’t able to execute on their match against Bad News Eagles, which they lost 0-2. Another loss to FURIA followed, and isak and company found themselves in a do-or-die match against Cloud9. They came close to qualifying for the Legends Stage of IEM Rio, but fell at the final hurdle against nafany’s troops.
However, the young roster from GamerLegion could already consider their result at the Major an overperformance after the elimination, as they showed a good level of Counter-Strike throughout the entire Challengers Stage against the best teams in the world. They have shown a lot of potential to the point where it might be difficult to keep everyone on board for the next season.
We got the chance to speak with GamerLegion’s Isak “isak” Fahlén in Rio after their match against Cloud9, where the 21-year-old Swede shared his thoughts on their Major journey, and what the situation is like for GamerLegion going forward.
